After cutting ties with Mahindra and Mahindra at the end of 2020, Ford has ventured out to make their own engine for their upcoming compact SUV projects in India rather than depending on the Indian automaker. Ford has currently asked its vendor to withhold working on Ford BX744 and Ford BX772 until August 2021. Mahindra and Ford had earlier joined hands for this joint venture to manufacture and sell Ford automobiles in the Indian market while simultaneously working their way into the high-growth emerging markets worldwide.
FORD BX772 & FORD BX744 LAUNCH DELAYED
Mahindra was supposed to provide powertrains to Ford as a part of the JV for a range of cars including the EcoSport as well as its upcoming new C-segment SUV. As for the main reason for their fallout, both the companies censured the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, Ford had prepared to wield the renewal of the EcoSport tagged as BX744 and the Hyundai Creta's rival BX772 with Mahindra powertrains. However, the Ford Mahindra Joint Venture got called off and both the companies stated that they came to this decision ‘mutually and amicably.
Both the upcoming compact SUV in India; Ford BX772 and Ford BX744 launch will be overseen internally. The firm is yet to finalize the new powertrains within its inventory that could be maneuvered for these projects. Thus, the development of the New Ford SUV for 2021 would be delayed by more six months.
